Diving Equipment Collection for Ukraine's Border Guards

Follow the project's progression through the blog

During our last delivery trip in May, we visited the border guard brigade in Kyiv and delivered some of the equipment we brought. The brigade commander met with us personally and also spoke about their future needs, one of which was diving equipment. Therefore, we are now launching a campaign to collect at least ten complete sets of diving equipment for them. The plan is to acquire the equipment by the end of August and deliver them personally to Kyiv at the beginning of September.

How you can help

You can help in many ways. First, you can donate your used diving equipment. If you wish to do so, please contact Nicklas Forss (nicklas.forss@zeroline.fi) and let him know what you have and where it is located. We will ensure that the equipment is collected and delivered to us, and if necessary, we will service them before sending them to Ukraine. If you don’t have diving equipment to donate, we also need money for maintenance, transportation, and potentially purchasing supplies that are not received as donations. Money can be donated here or via MobilePay.

You can also help by spreading the word. If you are a member of a diving club, you can pass this information along to their email list (or similar communication channel). You can also like our posts on social media and send this page’s link to your diving friends.

What's needed?

Status Update

The collection has been hugely successful, far beyond our expectations, and we have already received more of some items than we need. For instance, we now have 36 pairs of fins and 28 lifting devices. A huge thanks to everyone involved for this achievement! We already have enough of the following:
  • Wetsuits
  • Bouyancy devices of the vest type (wing-type and their parts, such as backplates and weights, are still needed)
  • Fins (except for JetFins-type)

What is most needed at this stage is money. We are purchasing compressors and protective vests as well as spare parts that likely will not be donated, but there is still a significant shortfall in the budget. Thanks once again for your help!

This is the type of stuff that's been requested - pretty normal SCUBA diving gear.

The requested equipment is quite basic diving gear—everything for an individual diver, but also gas analyzers and compressors. Here is the list:
  • Buoyancy compensator ("wing" type) with quick-release weight pockets, metal back
  • Dry suits
  • Neoprene diving hoods
  • Neoprene gloves (3 mm)
  • Diving fins
  • Diving half-masks
  • Diving snorkels (with valve and mask attachment)
  • Weight belts
  • Air cylinders
  • High pressure air regulators (1st and 2nd stage with dry chamber and hose)
  • Reserve second stage regulators
  • Pressure gauges
  • Depth gauges
  • Compasses
  • Mobile high-pressure air compressors (petrol)
  • Stationary high-pressure air compressors (electric)
  • Air gas analyzers (MX4 Ventis)
  • Surface marker buoys
  • Diving reels with carabiner
  • Small diving lights
  • Large diving lights
  • Diving knives
  • Safety line 18-20mm, 200 meters
  • Desalination tanks for diving equipment (at least 200 liters)
  • Carabiners (stainless steel)
  • Waterproof bags
  • Equipment carry bags
  • Body armor with zero buoyancy (multicam color, protection class 3+)
  • Lightweight helmets for water operations
