Two weeks have passed since the collection began, and there is no end in sight for the influx of diving equipment. Every day, I still receive new contacts, and items are being donated. I have weighed quite accurately everything that we have received (as customs requires information on the quantity and weight of the goods), and currently, we have amassed 812 kg. The majority of the weight is, of course, the tanks (364 kg), but also the BCDs, fins, and certainly the lead weights, which each weigh nearly a hundred kilograms per type. We will need a fairly sturdy vehicle and good fastenings to transport all of this.
Our business partners are very actively involved in assessing the condition of the equipment and servicing some of it. We have decided not to service everything in Finland, but rather to use our limited resources to purchase spare parts so that the Ukrainians can maintain them as needed.
Additionally, we have decided to purchase compressors for the Ukrainians. They have been requested, but understandably, we have not received such items as donations. However, we have found a few good candidates that we plan to buy. The compressors cost from 1000 to 3000 euros each for used ones, and we also need to find money for this. You can help by donating.
Money can be donated here or through MobilePay.
